Staff Vacancy-Legal project manager

We are currently recruiting for a legal project manager to work in our London office.

 

Job title:            Legal Project Manager

Term:                 Fixed Term (3 years)

Contract:            3 days per week

Purpose:            To develop, monitor and evaluate a 3 year funded project on EU migrants, homelessness and destitution in London

Responsible to:  Director

Working with:    Director, some interaction with Finance team

Location:           17 Russell Square, London WC1B 5DR

Start Date:         End of January 2017

Salary:                £ 25,000 p.a. ( pro rata 3 days per week)

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide written advice to clients and legal representation in cases that may come before the UK domestic immigration and social security tribunals. This includes identifying and developing the use of strategic litigation in this area and taking third party interventions where appropriate   

  • Prepare and deliver capacity building activities on EU free movement law and European human rights throughout London.    

  • Organise conferences as part of the project.

  • Prepare training materials, bespoke toolkits and other legal empowerment tools.

  • Maintain and develop strong partnership with frontline homelessness organisations, migrants’ rights and human rights NGOs, statutory agencies, lawyers, academics and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Respond to government consultations as and when necessary.

  • Drafts reports and updates for the website on the project activities and outcomes.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Experience of project management in the not-for-profit sector.

  • Experience of project reporting against outputs, outcomes and indicators.

  • Experience in organising events ( trainings and conferences ) from start to finish.

  • An understanding of EU and/or housing law.

Desirable

  • A law degree.

  • Experience working in not-for-profit homelessness sector in London.
