EU Law on Social Welfare Benefits: Conference Update & Materials

The AIRE Centre is pleased to upload the materials from the conference on EU law rights to claim social welfare benefits, which took place in the Skadden Offices on the 7th of February.

On 7 February 2013, the AIRE Centre, in conjunction with project partners, FLAC and Lize Glas, held a culminating conference for the ECSS project funded by the European Commission at the London offices of Skadden Arps LLP. The conference was a great success with participation by attendees from the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium. Topics discussed included an overview of the EU special non-contributory benefit scheme, EU law issues faced by EU migrants claiming SNCBs in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, the UK’s upcoming Universal Credit regime, the position of EU jobseekers in the Republic of Ireland, and the CJEU’s Hendrix decision on the exportability of SNCBs.
